Learn More About Paper Books

Until a few years ago it was not profitable to print a book in less than several thousand copies. Since the press preparation and printing process was carried out in off-set printing, just to print the first copy was complicated and expensive.

The technological development of the Digital Printing Presses —with more accurate, robust and faster laser printers—, allowed making profit from a single copy printed, while the development of the ecommerce has led to an explosion of books distribution and international sales. These two factors have made it possible to print the books on demand (POD), so a reader orders a book online (or on a bookstore), and that single copy is printed and shipped to the customer. This way, no inventory is needed and books are never out of stock since they are only kept in electronic files, waiting for a buyer to be printed and sent to.

Alexandria Library, according to the latest trends in technology, has adopted the POD process. Once the manuscript is received, we perform the copyediting, proofreading and prepare the computer files according with the requirements for digital printing, submitting them for international distribution and sales.

Our books are professionally edited, with full color cover cardboard with glitter, and the interior pages, usually in black ink on white or cream (also available in full color), have an opaque paper and acid free. The gluing and cutting is high quality.

The final results are books available for sale through Amazon, Barnes and Noble and most of retailers while will be also placed in the catalogs of major international books distributors like Ingram and Baker & Taylor, suppliers of bookstores and libraries worldwide. The whole process, from the manuscript to the international exposure, takes a few weeks.

The author does not have printing disbursement and there is no need to store or send books to buyers. There is nothing to pay for keeping the books for sale permanently. The author only has an one-time cost and waits for the royalties to be paid, by check or wire transfer.
